IMVU’s Daily Outfit Challenge – Creative, Expressive, Fun!
Posted on October 7, 2014
By Katiemarie – Online Community Engagement Manager
IMVU is all about creativity and self-expression. As IMVU’s Community Manager, I love to see our community share their individual sense of style and artistry through our popular feature: the Daily Outfit Challenge. IMVU’s Daily Outfit Challenge features outfits put together by our fashionistas and voted on by fellow community members. Each day a brand new theme is available and participants go shopping in our vast virtual goods catalog for clothing and accessories that match the theme. They put together creative outfits that cleverly showcase them in photos before submitting the image and the outfit for community review. Then, it’s all up to our community members to vote them up or down to select the daily challenge winners! Fashion savvy users who win multiple challenges proudly grab a spot on the leader board and receive prizes. Daily Outfit Challenge (DOC) themes are chosen based on community suggestions and ideas from our own team members. The themes often coordinate with seasons and ongoing IMVU community events. Our more popular DOC themes tend to have ties to real-life holidays and events. Summer vacations and urban fashion also garner a lot of interest. And the sheer diversity of our IMVU comunity means highly creative ensembles! The Daily Outfit Challenge is a quick way to explore fashion and product trends among IMVU creators, and is a great source of inspiration for both our community and IMVU’s own creative teams. Coming up with new themes and reviewing the DOC participants’ creations are some of my favorite parts of my job. I love seeing how our community uses the IMVU technology and catalog to express themselves!
IMVU Adds
Live Chat Support For VIP Customers
Posted on September 30, 2014
IMVU is excited to announce another exclusive benefit to
being VIP among our community. Expedited support has always been available as a
perk to this elite group. In order to further enhance the premium VIP club
experience, we have been testing a new way to offer instant support for the
past few months. As a result, our treasured VIPs can now chat LIVE with IMVU
Customer Support team between 6 am and 6 pm Pacific Time every day. All they
have to do is visit our Help Center - accessible via our website and 3D Chat
client – and click the Live Chat button available at the top. It takes barely a
few seconds before our VIPs can start talking to one of our knowledgeable
Customer Support representatives via chat.
The chat communication is convenient and quite similar to
any other Instant Messaging services that our customers are familiar with. They
can easily attach and send files if needed during the chat conversations. When
our VIPs have obtained all the help they need – in a speedy and convenient
manner – they can simply close the session and go back to enjoying IMVU. The
chat logs are automatically saved for easy access for future reference, and an
email is sent to the customer with a link to that chat log. We also want our
customers to tell us about their Live Chat experience and we will be doing so
via short surveys sent to all the happy customers who have benefited from the
Live Chat support experience.
So far, our VIP members love this service, based on the
feedback we have received on our customer satisfaction surveys. They love
getting answers to their questions or concerns in minutes instead of hours or
even days with multiple back and forth messages involving help tickets. IMVU
appreciates its customers and is delighted to have added this perk to its VIP
club members.
IMVU Turns
September Into GIFTEMBER
Posted on September 5, 2014
End of summer fun, back to school routines, and seemingly
still too far away holiday season can bring one down during September. This
year, IMVU’s team of product managers and engineers decided to make September a
month to remember for its community members! A cross-functional brainstorming
and planning session shaped into a new project – GIFTEMBER! -a 30-day
celebration full of community events, contests, exclusive promotions, and of
course gifts. Two fast-paced and intense weeks of design, coding, and testing
work made this a reality on September 1st!
Its been barely a week and the fun is just getting started!
IMVU customers have already enjoyed log in gifts, discounts in the Credit
store, and a wildly popular Back To School themed party inside multiple 3D chat
rooms. The highlight of the month is multiple day of our new “Give a Gift &
Get a Gift” feature, where two sets of products have been created so that our
customers can choose one friend to give that day’s free gift and in return get
a free gift for themselves. Doing so on all days will complete their
collections – a beach resort and a space club!
There are many more days remaining in the month and our
customers have been invited to join us every day – those who do have an
extra-special surprise in waiting for them on September 30th.
Here’s to Giftember!

Toddler/Child Pageant Fundraiser
It’s got it all, glitz, glamour and
beauty. This isn’t the Miss American Pageant though, this is the Toddler/Child
Pageant Fundraiser. This event is to be about fun even though it will be a
competition. Good sportsmanship coupled with some good ole team spirit.
For this pageant, it’ll be about winning the crown, ribbons, and prizes. Any money earned will go towards what it’s intended for, and that is the school. To host this fundraiser here’s a few tips to get you started on your way.
For this pageant, it’ll be about winning the crown, ribbons, and prizes. Any money earned will go towards what it’s intended for, and that is the school. To host this fundraiser here’s a few tips to get you started on your way.
1. Select the location of the
fundraiser. You want to be able to add a temporary runway, so there needs to be
room for that, as well as seating. If your town has a theater or you have a
community center, these will probably be the best locations, unless you can
host this in one of the school auditoriums where the stage can be utilized.
Once your location is secure step two comes into play.
2. Select the crowns or tiaras, 1st,
2nd, and 3rd place ribbons for each category you’ll have in the competition and
prizes for the first place winners. Divide into age groups. Example: Toddlers,
Age 4, Age 5, Age 6 and Age 7. I’d have an age cut off so that things can run
as smoothly as possible without to many hours spent going through several other
age groups. You’ll need ribbons for each age group, so take that into
consideration when purchasing them. A crown or tiara will need to be bought for
each category as well.
You might want to consider
purchasing special ribbons for everyone who participates so they’ll receive
something for taking part in the competition. Purchase age appropriate gifts
for the 1st place winners in each age group.
If you can find someone willing to
donate gift certificates say to Putt Putt, pizza place, movies, water park etc,
for everyone who participates, then everyone will receive a nice gift
regardless of their placing or not.
3. Now you’ve got the location and
the awards in order, it’s time to run an ad for the fundraiser. First and
foremost this is about raising funds for the schools so be sure that is known
when placing your ad, then play up the pageant theme.
4. Place your ad. List the
categories and age groups, then list how many positions will receive honors.
Make note that a tiara or crown will be given to the winner of each age group,
in each category you include in the pageant. You might mention that every
participant will receive a ribbon for entering and (if you’ve secured gift
certificates) that each toddler/child will receive a small prize. Then list the
amount of money you decide on to enter the competition.
The more you can do to and offer,
for those who win, the more moms will be willing to donate funds to enter their
child in the competition, then the more money you’ll raise for the schools. So
really put a lot of thought, energy, and time into creating a spectacular
pageant.
Don’t forget to list the day and
time the pageant will be held. Encourage those who enter to arrive early enough
to get their little beauties in order and ready for the competition.
5. Have some refreshing drinks on
hand and snacks for the kids who’ve entered. You don’t want them getting to
fussy because they’re thirsty or hungry.
6. Select judges. Don’t have anyone
on the panel who is related to any of the participants. You might think about
asking local beauty pageant winners to judge the competition or someone on city
council.
Now things have been planned out. Do
a walk through with the moms and kids the day before the event happens. Collect
all the awards, gifts and things needed. Designate different jobs to volunteers
so you aren’t so stressed out. Cross things off the list as they are completed.
Set up creative donation boxes for
extra donations. Make a sign for each stating that donations are going towards
activities or needs throughout the year for kids in the schools. Have
volunteers man those locations donation boxes are set up at.
Okay you’re ready. Get your best MC
voice together and enjoy the pageant. Have fun, remember to smile and be free
with the ‘thank-you’s’ and ‘oh don’t you look pretty’s’, while smiling at the
moms. This is going to be a successful fundraiser.
